Black-throated blue warbler (female), Prospect Park

Want to help flip some Senate seats? Phone bank with Jonathan Franzen this Saturday! And phone bank with me on Halloween! My friend David is an organizer for the group in charge, Auk the Vote, which aims to tap the network of birders. But you don’t have to be a birder! I’ll be donating some new paperbacks of Overthrow to be raffled off among those who take part with me on Halloween. Hope to see you (virtually) there!

Near the dog beach, in Prospect Park, the trees were swarming today with ruby-crowned and golden-crowned kinglets, in such numbers that they seemed oblivious to the presence of mere humans.

A lone black-and-white warbler crashed the party.

There were more kinglets down near the Well House, where I also found this yellow-rumped warbler and this magnolia warbler.
