While you were watching Sharknado, Steph Opitz decided that my novel Necessary Errors is “an endearing and thoughtful look at the expatriate experience” and said so in the August issue of Marie Claire (the write-up doesn’t seem to be online).

Praise from Donald Antrim
Just got these very generous words of early praise for Necessary Errors from Donald Antrim:
“In its rich and elaborate depictions of a time and a life, of character and growth and pain, and in its psychological curiosity and emotional rigor, Necessary Errors is a rarity—a brave, humane, dignified novel of eros and youth in the shadow of history.”
Itemized on two more lists
Vanity Fair has named Necessary Errors one of the “best new books of August.” And Garth Risk Hallberg lists the novel in the Millions’ “Great Second-Half 2013 Book Preview,” writing that “Crain’s stately, wry, and generous first novel breaks the mold.” The novel comes out August 6th.

A list and a review
Jimmy So and Lucas Wittmann of Newsweek have listed my novel among their “brainy beach reads” of the summer. And in the 1 July 2013 issue of Booklist, reviewer Kerri Price calls it “a compelling and heartfelt story that captures both the boundless enthusiasm and naïveté of youth” (not online, at least at the moment).
