    1. Hmm. I admit to having to look through my own book to make sure, but it seems that it’s referred to at least a few times in the narrative as the “Vltava,” and at least once a character uses its German name, the “Moldau.”

      1. I look forward to re-reading the book myself. There did seem to be a numinous namelessness about the river that contrasted (only in retrospect, listening to Smetana) with the particularity with which streets and squares and neighborhoods are identified. Of course, there is only the one river.
